Hey Matt & Jodi,

Jodi & Matt, From the moment I saw you two in those gorgeous mahogany kayaks pass below the window from the upper level at Izaak Walton Lodge in Yankeetown paddling up the mysterious Withlacoochee River you took my heart. Free spirits off to see the world. You touch lives everywhere you go doing what most folks only dream of. Our lives crossed for a reason which may never be revealed if only to inspire me to reach for what I want and no goal is too high. I am truly blessed to have shared my home, my history of an area I love dearly and to have got to know you both who are so special. I will keep up with you and some day we will pass on a different trail and recognize each other. Love, Swamp Sally

We are enjoying a very pretty day here in Ohio on November the 3rd. We just seen some very pretty pictures that you have taken on your trip. We also have followed your path. I bet you are wondering just how we are seeing this. Our helper brought her laptop in and we gave her the website and we looked it up. It looks like it is a very exciting trip—wish we were young again, so we could do something like this. We will try to keep up with your trip. We wish you God’s Blessings and stay well—Love you both
Hello from your Canadian cousin
Mom (AKA Cathy) told me about your adventure and thought Id say Hello and wish you well on your trip.
Will be following it online.
Hi, I thought I’d say hello while I’m playing kayak traffic controller. I’m glad you hugging the coast. I think it will be most direct for you. Matt, tylenol, ear drops, throat lozengers, lots of liquid.chicken soup and hot tea with lemon. Sleep as much as you can for two days and see if you feel any better. Sometimes this works for you!!!! I hope your weather is better then ours has been. the combination of the cold weather and wetness and exhaustion and stress is probably a little culprit that slid in when you weren’t looking. Don’t you just hate the way they do that!!!
I’m keeping an eye on where you are for the next hour or so and I hope that Matt G didn’t get too far ahead of you.
Call me if you need me. I’m always home. Love you.Sadie says hi shes been on my lap while i’ve been checking and watching the spot. Love you all
Momma Jo
I hope that all is going well for both of you. What a wonderful thing to get to enjoy. I really hope that we can all get together when you get back, and have time and I would love to hear some stories. I wish you both and will be keeping an eye out for new pictures and entries. Good luck!
Got an email from your Grandmother telling us about you site. will be keeping up with you and wishing you all the best from all your Canadian relatives. Am printing as much as I can so Auntie Margaret can read about your ventures
may God be with you and am envious of your ability to do this
Love cousin Kathy
This is October the 24th and we are on a rainy day here in Ohio. All our Indiana girls are visiting us and so we are having a great time. Audrey was able to connect her laptop to the wireless connection from the Elementary school across the way, so we were able to see your website. We saw your pictures and saw exactly where you are at right now (near Marathon). Have a good time with your parents when you connect this weekend. Stay well, keep paddling, avoid the sharks, and catch a few more mullett. We’re thinking of you each day and wishing you well and God’s blessing and safety as you journey on. We’ll be in touch.
Hi Guys,
we want to say hello from Germany. We hope you enjoy Key Largo we have been there a week before we met in St Augustine and it was so great. We really enjoy to follow your route. Have a lot of fun.
Someday we might meet in Germany.
I will sent you the picture we made in St Augustine
later on by mail.
Have a great time Frederic & Bianca
As always I’m so proud of you and envious of your free spirit. If I could join you I would, of course you would have to fend out the snakes (as I’m deathly afraid of them). For now, I will just live through your words and pictures. Your in my thoughts and prayers every day. please let me know if your headed my way again as I also love your company and you know there’s alot of water where I live :). Let me know if you have any special request closer to when I send out your box. Love and miss you both.
Love, Aunt Tonya, Uncle Joe, Shane & Joey
Hi Matt & Jodi -
We’ve been watching your travels with great interest. Sounds like you are having a great adventure. Got a chance to see Jess, Chris, and Martin for a short while when they were in North Manchester. That was neat. Megan, the girls, and I are heading to see Grandma and Grandpa this weekend.
Have you seen any BIG alligators yet? Take care and keep healthy.
hey kids finally checked your web site, awesome!!!! i had a great time with y;all at trail days this year. jodi ii was great to finally meet you. i hope all is well, it is ere up in vermont.- walkin’ will
Hi
I’m here again. Decided while I could see today I’d get on. Been awhile since I’ve checked anything. I had 195 emails the other day and I made your dad go through and dump all but the ones that he knew I’d want to reach which was 6, I think.
I had a t-shirt made with Marty’s picture on it and it is being printed with Gamma’s “lil’ Prince” on it. Should be done by Friday. I’m gonna try to webcam to the kids to show them!!
Guess Jaime and Eddie made it to Ireland. Can’t really get ahold of them accept for emergency no. and don’t want that. “no news is good news” with you kids traveling all over. Guess Jess, Chris and Marty got back from the midwest all right. They took Grp Eller out to lunch. Your dad says that he seems to be getting much weaker. He talked with Uncle Stan who was there overlaping jess. What do we expect for a 98 yr old????
Anyway, I’ve got to go now. Head onto the keys. Let us know when you expect to be in Marathon or is it Islamorada, I can’t wait. Dad is gonna find someway to make it down there.
amanda told me about your adventure and gave me the web site. I think what you all are doing is really awesome. I am enjoying checking in and reading how your days are going. stay safe!!
Well it sounds like you”re building up some upper body muscles now.
We’re still having some rain showers here on the island. We’ve put the Orchids under the bougenvilla bush and the wild palm we let grow. Keep them from getting so soaked when it rain and they get some filtered morning and afternoon light. No offense, but they’re looking real good, of course you know me I talk with them every day. Hope the winds don’t blow so hard in the up coming days. Love ya Momma Jo
Ken really enjoyed being able to meet up with you all in Melbourne and hear about your adventures thus far! I’m exhausted just reading your journals about paddling with the wind against you :). We’re keeping track of your progress and continue to pray for safe journeys! Take Care!
Nicole
Hey Geeks!!
just wanted to wish you a fond farewell and tell you how proud we are of you!!. We’re off to Ireland on Sunday (I promise Jodi, you’ll be allowed back in that country one day, and then we’ll hike the west coast together!) I can’t believe we’re flying all our camping gear over there. Makes me feel hardcore (although not nearly as hardcore as you all- we will have showers at the campsite) Alrighty gotta go, Bridget Donahue keeps trying to get out the sliding door!
Lots of love from
Jaime, Eddie, Jack, Bailey, Bridget and Orla
Looks like things are going well so far. The peach cobbler turned out pretty well. I’d make some modifications next time. When you get back, come by and I’ll make a batch.
Matt,
What an incredible undertaking! After getting that hike up the Appalachians under your belt I know this adventure will be a great addition to your life’s accomplishments. To follow the entire Florida coastline is amazing. I’m looking forward to seeing the photos and especially the video footage of your team’s odyssey. I will be following your progress, let me know if I can help in any way. Best of luck to you and your crew. Your fishing friend in Alaska.
Smooth sailing from here. Ya’ll are making good progress, and the weather is turning fair. May the wind be at your back the remainder of the Fall. Enjoy Mosquito Lagoon, we’ll look for you. Bella says hello and misses you.
Hey Matt,
I wanted to let you know that a friend of my cousin named Lorena wants to interview you guys for a possible article in Kayak Magazine. It’s not guaranteed and may end up being a blog, but I thought you would be excited about it. I look forward to seeing you all in November. Good luck and Godspeed.
P.S. e-mail me a couple of days before you get to Chokoloskee.
Hi my babes.
Dad finally got me onto the site. Been recooping from back infusions again.
I’m so proud of you both. Someone told me yesterday from the neighborhood that they see a book in your future. Me too. Such elequent writers you both are.
I’ve lit a candle in my bedroom and it remains lighted at all time. You know how much I love you both. MOMMA JOE
matt… where in palm valley are you launching? south of the bridge?

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference
Hey guys, I got a place on Chokoloskee island which is about 2 miles south of Everglades city with a private boat slip for your kayaks, a bed, a nice bathroom and A/C!! It’s at your disposal so let me know if and when. I look forward to seeing you.
Sincerly,
Deryck
P.S. The Kayaks look freekin awsome!
Wow, the Kayak’s look great! Your journey is almost here and may God bless you by meeting all your needs..
with love and lots of prayer for you both and a blessing to all who visit.
You and Matt have done an awesome job with the site and all your preparations for the trip. I really enjoyed reading your journal entries and you haven’t even left yet! I will try to mail you some goodies from Korea to one of your drop spots…hopefully you will get it.
Please take care of yourself on your long journey. The Florida wilderness is not a walk in the woods.
Matt and Matt, It was refreshing meeting the two of you. I admire your life style and think it is great the things you are doing.Your website is set up nicely and enjoyed reading it. I wish you goodness on your next trip and hope our paths cross again some day.Lisa (Florida Trail Association)

Hey Matt & Jodi,
Sorry it’s taken us so long to catch up on your journey and leave a message. Unfortunately, your journey started right when we were in the midst of ours with Matthew. He is doing well. He had the bone marrow transplant and just finished the 100 day post transplant isolation period. He even got to start kindergarten last week. Matthew is considered to be in remission again, so we are grateful beyond words. Please continue to pray for our little super hero. He has a condition which increases his chance for more tumors and another relapse, but we are praying that doesn’t happen. When you are able to, check out his website at http://www.carepages.com/carepages/MatthewRobinson *Your readers are welcome to do so also*

I am truly blessed to have shared my home, my history of an area I love dearly and to have got to know you both who are so special. Anyway, I’ve got to go now. Head onto the keys. Let us know when you expect to be in Marathon or is it Islamorada, I can’t wait. Dad is gonna find someway to make it down there.
ALl my love to you all. MOMMMA JO

Hi Matt and Jodi:
Looks fun and we wish you well. Let us know where we can send supplies to.
October 12th, 2008 @ 1:53 pm
Well it sounds like you”re building up some upper body muscles now.
We’re still having some rain showers here on the island. We’ve put the Orchids under the bougenvilla bush and the wild palm we let grow. Keep them from getting so soaked when it rain and they get some filtered morning and afternoon light. No offense, but they’re looking real good, of course you know me I talk with them every day. Hope the winds don’t blow so hard in the up coming days. Love ya Momma Jo

Hi Matt and Jodi!
Ken really enjoyed being able to meet up with you all in Melbourne and hear about your adventures thus far! I’m exhausted just reading your journals about paddling with the wind against you :). We’re keeping track of your progress and continue to pray for safe journeys! Take Care!

Hey Geeks!!
just wanted to wish you a fond farewell and tell you how proud we are of you!!.

Hey Matt G.

Hey Matt,
I wanted to let you know that a friend of my cousin named Lorena wants to interview you guys for a possible article in Kayak Magazine. It’s not guaranteed and may end up being a blog, but I thought you would be excited about it. I look forward to seeing you all in November. Good luck and Godspeed.
P.S. e-mail me a couple of days before you get to Chokoloskee.

ROAD LESS TRAVELED
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference

My Dearest Jodi,
You and Matt have done an awesome job with the site and all your preparations for the trip. I really enjoyed reading your journal entries and you haven’t even left yet! I will try to mail you some goodies from Korea to one of your drop spots…hopefully you will get it.
Please take care of yourself on your long journey. The Florida wilderness is not a walk in the woods.
Love and admiration,
